Franklin Cohens has over 20 years law enforcement experience mostly in criminal investigations. He started his law enforcement career in 1991 in maritime law enforcement with the US Coast Guard after completing his service with the U.S. Marine Corps. In 1999 he became a Key West Police officer while simultaneously continuing his military career as a Special Agent with the Coast Guard Investigative Service as a reservist. He has served in various positions with Key West Police Department including Patrol, as a Detective in the special operations unit and criminal investigations unit. Franklin also held assignments on Federal task forces with the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force, and the Drug Enforcement Administration Task Force primarily investigating drug trafficking and money laundering. He was qualified as an expert with the U.S. Southern District Court in street level narcotics and criminal organizations before accepting a position with the State Attorney’s Office of the 16th Judicial Circuit as a criminal investigator where he continued to investigate financial crimes and crimes against persons.
